When you join ROLDA’s community of monthly donors — a group we call The Rescue Team — you’re making an enormous difference for homeless dogs and cats in Romania and Worldwide, where they are affected by natural and human made disasters. Your ongoing support will provide the steady medical and emotional support they need, no matter when or for how long they need it.

ROLDA is the only organization active in Romania, Middle East, with a team on the ground that joins evacuation missions near the frontline in Ukraine but also saves dogs abused in puppy mills in Europe. In our first 20 years, we helped over 100,000 animals and this is only the beginning.

We run no kill shelters and currently we focus on building the first cage-free facility for dogs in Romania, taking the national animal welfare standards to a next level. From rescuing animals from dangerous places, ensuring lifesaving medical treatment to providing nutritious meals, cozy shelter and the chance to find a permanent loving home, the Rescue Team makes certain that no homeless animal is left behind.

Signing up is simple

You can sign up to be a member of our Rescue Team using direct debit, your credit card or PayPal.

When you set up your monthly gift to come directly from your bank account, more of it goes to the animals because there are fewer processing fees and no interruptions in your support due to expiration dates or other changes.

Plus, you can easily adjust the date that you’d like funds withdrawn once you’re enrolled and you’ll receive annual statements.

Is this donation tax-deductible?

We are an organization eligible to receive tax deductible contributions. Your gift may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor for guidance applicable to your specific situation.
We will email you a donation receipt. Please retain it for your records, as it may be required to substantiate your charitable contribution for tax purposes, subject to applicable law.

Can I cancel my recurring donation?

Of course. You always remain in full control of your recurring donation, and you’re free to change or cancel it at any time. If you need help, please contact us for assistance.

How much does the ROLDA CEO make?

CEO of ROLDA USA is not paid. The structure of ROLDA is different from other organizations. The Romanian organization acts as Global entity while the branches, including the US branch, are its supporting organizations. It is ROLDA policy that our board members (Directors in Australia, Trustees in the UK and board members elsewhere) not to receive remuneration, except the reimbursement of some costs incurred.
CEO of Global entity, Dana Costin’s net income is in the range of 7500 RON*/month, not exceeding 20,000 $/annual compensation in 2025. (*RON = Romanian currency) At ROLDA, we are committed to transparency in all financial matters. Please contact us in case you have additional questions.

Puppies left to perish

A “human” threw 2 pups in a bag and abandoned them, together with their mum, who was tied up our shelter gate. When our caretakers saw something moving in the bag, they knew what to expect, because they have been seeing this scene over and over again, for years.

Once the bag was opened, from its bottom appeared 2 pairs of gorgeous eyes and simply irresistible smiling faces. We took them back to our shelter where we checked, fed, cleaned, vaccinated them. The female adult is not adoptable yet, because she is a little aggressive. The pups will be separated immediately after they stop being dependent on their mum which we will sterilize.

Big thanks to all our Rescue Team members who give monthly to enable us to properly look after and spoil the animals abandoned and treated like trash. You know they deserve better and thanks to our donors, we can help these animals become little treasures waiting to be discovered by special people that appreciate, love and respect them.
