ROLDA has survived nightmare after nightmare
A mega rich industrial giant broke a promise to pay upkeep for dogs saved from their premises.

Our power supply failed… a new system had to be quickly bought and installed.

Our drinking water supply was condemned… and we had to collect water by truck for the dogs until we made our well safe.

The COVID pandemic struck… price rises and shortages, care home visits stopped, and international adoptions were banned.

The war in neighboring Ukraine… extra funds needed to carry out more rescue missions

A little bit of history – Milestones
2004
ROLDA protested against mass poison of dogs on local steel plant
2006
The steel plant management invited ROLDA to provide a humane alternative to save the dogs on death row
2007
First 20 kennels have been completed
2010
The last 10 kennels were finished; a total of 120 kennels were functional to save dogs
2012
An administration building was built. Electrica (Romanian national electric company) demanded ROLDA to relocate 4 paddocks to approve connection to electric network
2014
Wind barrier was planted to protect shelter from snow storm
2015
2 hectares of land have been purchased
2016
New management of steel plant decided dogs stop be a priority and contract was terminated; ROLDA sue the company
2019
The trial finished and the steel plant was found guilty for breaking the contract
2022
Additional land was fenced to secure property to build the new PawzUp center
ROLDA full history
In 2004, ROLDA became aware of a horror scenario unfolding on our doorstep. A local steel mill, owned by one of Britain’s and the world’s richest men, Laskmi Mittal, had become an involuntary home to countless stray dogs desperately seeking shelter and food.
