Shelter 1: Transform the small shelter
Since 2003, the small shelter is a home for thousands of animals which transit to their forever adopters. The only home they had until they actually got home.
Dogs of different shape, color, size and with different personality went through Flori’s hands which is the veteran caretaker, with us (almost) since this shelter functions.
For our anniversary, as we celebrate the first 20 years of ROLDA, we couldn’t think of a better gift than investing in a face lift for this place. We are careful as always with each donation spent wisely, but after so many years, we believe that some changes are necessary.

How does the small shelter impact animal lives in Romania and beyond?

Testimonial from an adopter
I would like to thank you and your staff for blessing us with such a wonderful dog, Cookie is adorable. We got him in September and as the days passed settling in, delightful characteristics unfolded. His excited pant on greeting you, his nose erect then breaking out into a funny bellowing howl. Wriggling on his back contentedly alleviating his itch and his big paws shaking about, he resembled Baloo the hilarious gentle bear in the cartoon Jungle Book! Our Baloo had landed and certainly won a big place in our hearts! A BIG THANK YOU!

Testimonial from a volunteer visitor
This is the first time when I volunteer at a foundation for animals. For me, the ROLDA Foundation is a place full of love where you can find yourself when you are sad, because the happiness on the puppies’ eyes drives away any feeling of sadness. It is not only a shelter for puppies but also the home of many lives that are carefully cared for everything they need. It shows how much love there is between the members of the foundation and their puppies. I would repeat the experience as a volunteer with the most wonderful people and the cutest puppies!

Meet Franka
We rescued Franka at ten years old from a puppy mill, where she had spent her life being used for breeding. When she arrived, she was in poor condition and suffering from a painful hernia that required surgery. Like many dogs trapped in puppy mills, Franka had never known safety, affection, or life beyond confinement. Her early years left both physical and emotional scars. Today, Franka has left that life behind. She is healthy, secure, and thriving with her forever family, finally able to experience comfort, care, and love. Her journey is a powerful reminder of why adoption matters, and how rescue can completely change a life.
