Emergency Relief Programme

ROLDA is expanding its mission to provide urgent aid to animals and communities affected by crises. Through the ROLDA Emergency Relief Programme, we will support animals in disadvantaged regions impacted by human-made or natural disasters, just as we did in Ukraine since March 2022.

Emergency Relief Programme

This programme will deliver rapid assistance by partnering with local organisations with the knowledge, logistics, and resources to take immediate action. These partners understand local systems, know how to navigate authorities, and can provide effective, culturally sensitive support. ROLDA’s role is to empower them, not to interfere with or influence local traditions.

As part of this initiative, ROLDA will:

Provide emergency grants

to trusted local rescue groups that demonstrate transparency and accountability.

Offer expert guidance

through education programmes aimed at improving animal welfare while respecting local customs.

Deploy team members when necessary

and possible to assist communities directly, ensuring aid reaches those most in need.

The ROLDA Emergency Relief Programme prioritises helping disadvantaged communities where large populations of homeless and stray animals suffer due to war, economic hardship, or environmental disasters. By working together with local groups, we can create lasting change and ensure that animals receive the care they need when they need it most.

CRISIS

Current crisis and disaster response efforts

Donbas Mission — Ukraine

Near the frontline, evacuation isn’t optional, it’s the only chance some animals have. ROLDA’s Donbas mission moves dogs and cats out of the most dangerous zones in the country, often under the same conditions the people there are fleeing. Every evacuation is a race against time, and for every animal reached, others remain in areas rescuers still can’t safely enter.

Emergency animal response in Nepal

ROLDA is supporting animal rescue work in the valleys devastated by the catastrophic Himalayan flood that swept through Nepal and Tibet on August 26. Help us reach animals who desperately need rescue, food, shelter, and care.

Emergency Earthquake Response — Venezuela

When the ground shook, animals were left in the rubble alongside everything else. ROLDA’s emergency response reached displaced and injured animals in the earthquake’s aftermath but recovery in a disaster zone takes far longer than the headlines suggest, and many animals are still without shelter or care.

Ending the Puppy Mill Trade — Europe

Behind closed doors, dogs are bred in conditions no one should have to survive. ROLDA rescues abused dogs from puppy mills across Europe, giving them medical care and a way out, but the mills themselves keep operating, and for every dog saved, more remain inside.

Humanitarian Aid for Refugee Camps — Turkey

In refugee camps, animals and people often share the same hardship, not enough food, not enough resources, not enough help. ROLDA distributes humanitarian aid packs to both, but the camps’ needs continue to outgrow what’s been delivered so far.

War Relief for Animals — Ukraine

Bombs fell. Animals were left behind. Within 48 hours, ROLDA was moving food and supplies into a war zone — a mission that, five years in, still has no end in sight. Together, we can support the rescue teams to evacuate animals from war in Ukraine.

Cross-Border Aid — Bethlehem, Palestine

Amid bombs and bullets, ROLDA didn’t walk away. Partnering with a shelter in Bethlehem, the mission is feed, rescue, save, whatever it takes. But faster than animals can be helped, more are being injured and abandoned by the war around them.

Feeding Animals during Floods — Bulgaria

When floods hit, animals are forgotten first, homes gone, food gone, dogs and cats stranded with nowhere safe to go. One local rescuer refuses to give up, but flood damage lingers, and stranded animals still outnumber what can be reached alone.
