Many of the dogs saved by ROLDA have a complicated past, suffering from awful trauma, some have been beaten, or even burned, which leaves obvious marks on their bodies, but worse are the deep wounds left on their hearts, and it’s those emotional wounds that influence their behavior.
We refer to these dogs as being shy, scared of people, difficult to adopt for unexperienced pet owners, aggressive with other dogs, possesive with their food, refusing to walk on the leash, etc.
The good news is that the ROLDA team has the knowledge and experience to heal these dogs, support them and make them safe for adoption, because ultimately this is what we want: happy dogs reunited with happy people.
Most of the dogs with behavior problems need patience, time and practice.
