Sterilization Campaign in Smardan

ROLDA Adoption Center is located in Smardan since 2003. Smardan village is 7 km far from Galati town and have approx. 5000 inhabitants,a little over 1800 households and at least each dog in every house.

Starting 2012, in partnership with Andrei Med Vet , a local veterinary – ROLDA aims to help the people to sterilize their dogs and cats for free.

Dogs sterilized in Smardan village because donations raised by ROLDA:

ROLDA purchased ID tags (yellow) from DSV to mark the sterilized dogs and thanks to a written partnership agreement with the City Hall Smardan, we have a guarantee that our sterilized dogs will not be catch and sent in pounds where to be brutally killed or suffer.

In other words, we are able to assure our supporters  that their donations will not be “wasted”, as it happens in other Romanian cities, where the authorities catch and kill sterilized dogs as well.

Immediately after weather improved and freezing days/nights were gone, Dr. Andrei was busy promoting this free sterilization campaign, convincing people to bring their pets for a painless, helpful procedure which prevent puppies to be born to suffer.

It is a challenge because people from rural areas are uneducated to respect dogs or cats, church-going, uncivilized  and extremely caution to new things that they don’t understand.

Please contribute to spay as many female dogs as possible until this summer will be gone , to prevent another “season” full of  new born puppies which will agonize, unwanted, in misery!
