I helped her step out of the car. While making obvious efforts to stand up, she told me, smiling, "The spinal column hurts me more and more when I am walking."

I looked into her sparking, still beautiful eyes and thought to myself, "You are one of the most upright and dignified people I ever met."

fiducia4_4d344e7756f52 Her name is Lidia Maier. She is 76 years old. (I asked her again, to avoid confusion.) She worked for 38 years. When she retired, 13 years ago, she started the Fiducia animal shelter to help the street dogs roaming in the nearby city. She lives in a tiny apartment with her sister and several rescued animals.

Helping Paws Grant

Because we at ROLDA believe in the meaning of the old saying:” You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving” and we do think about others’ needs, we decided to share small amounts (for starting) in terms of grants to different small charities in Romania for dog food, sterilizations or other emergency needs.

We are still committed to help Fiducia shelter periodically with as much as we can afford.

Because ROLDA is not a self-sufficient charity and we continue to ask your help for different vital projects, we will only share these small grants in exceptionally situations and we hope you’ll agree with us to put your donation at work where it will have the greatest impact.

While donating to ROLDA (and give us the possibility to help other small charities from Romania) you will benefit of tax-deduction (for US donors) which will bring you another reason of joy at the end of fiscal year.

FOR ROMANIAN CHARITIES APPLYING:

The charity must be registered in Romania.

Apply for Helping Paws grant, describing your charity and your needs;

The sponsorship contract sent to you will be signed by the charity legal representative and sent in original back to ROLDA by regular post;

Proofs on how the grant was spent (copies of receipts, a copy of the financial records for the latest fiscal year) will make your organization eligible for a possible new grant.
