FOOD FUND CHALLENGE UPDATE!!!
Every now and than, we find ourselves in the position to ask your help to feed our 60 dogs from the Adoption Center. ROLDA gets no public or governmental funding, although we do an impressive job in the Galati county. Our daily work, increasing rescue missions, our projects relies on private donors generosity and our sponsors. While most of the dogs costs at the large Rescue Center are covered by our largest sponsor, AMG - the Adoption Center doesn't have yet a constant sponsors. The dogs daily care as well as the investments (like renovation costs) are a challenge for us, every month.
Our supporters will be happy to know that most of the dogs adopted in safe homes abroad are starting the journey for a new, better life from this Adoption Center, located in Smardan village. The adoption rate of this shelter is 100% which means that all together, about 200 dogs(former strays, saved from dangerous situations) were rehabilitated and helped to be ready to go where they are now, in Holland, Norway, USA or UK.
Every day, about 30 kg of dry food are consumed to feed the dogs from Adoption Center. In total, one tone/ each month. After testing different types of food (from medium quality to premium) we found a new collaborator. We strongly believe that feeding dogs constantly with quality food reflects on the wellbeing and general health of these dogs. ROLDA has the reputation of rehoming healthy, shinning dogs and we must continue to go in the right direction.
There isn't any "too big effort" when our dogs welfare is at stake.
But without constant resources, we feel powerless seeing that the food is almost over. Today, the reserve of food consists in only 5 bags of 20 kg, which will last for almost 3 days.
I would never agree to run a shelter which lacks of basic resources. I would never dissapoint the dogs put in the kennels to wait to be fed. I would never use an excuse (like the lack of personal abilities) to watch my dogs starving.
This is why I address to you - who read this call for action - in hope that you will spare a penny or as much as you can to help us raise 850 EUR to purchase one tone of medium quality food which will last for the coming 30 days.
4 pallets of food are promised from our friends from Holland for September month.
ROLDA usually makes appeal for improvements or repairs, as normally we handle the daily feeding and caring costs - but on ocassion, we have to make this kind of appeals, to avoid desperate situations. I wish there wouldn't be the case, but as you know rescuing and caring for dogs is costly, if you want to do things in the right way and not become a hoarder.
The Adoption Center has one single employee. The volume of work is much higher so at least one more person should be hired. We hope that someone will sponsor with a monthly donation a second employee. This is a thought to consider in case you'd like to put your donation at work. While many people prefer to donate for direct costs for animals, some of you, who visited at least once a shelter and know the basics about its management, can understand why and how a qualified, efficient staff reflects on dogs'need and shelter' overall progress.
