After January 1st, 2012 if you intend to bring a dog into the UK, please make sure that the followings are respected:

1. Pet microchip;
2. Date of rabies vaccine (after the date of microchip);
3. Completed EU pet passport or an official Health Certificate , stating the microchip and rabies vaccine dates;
4. 21 days passed from the rabies vaccine;
5. Before entering the UK, all pet dogs (including assistance dogs) must be treated for tapeworm. The treatment must be administered by a vet not less than 24 hours and not more than 120 hours (1-5 days) before its scheduled arrival time in the UK.
There is no mandatory requirement for tick treatment.;
6. The dog must travel on an approved route.

Please visit the official DEFRA webpage.

Dog transport by car costs approx 230 GBP. The authorized pet transport company deliver the dogs in UK to specific meeting points, from where the adoptants can pick them up.

NORWAY

According to www.mattilsynet.no and according to the regulation 2003/998 which applies for “non-commercial movement of pets”, the pet must be followed by its owner or a person that follow the pet on behalf of the owner. This means that the owner/owner’s representant must be on the same flight as the pet(s).

A Norwegian volunteer might bring up to 5 dogs to Norway, provided these pets have permanent Norwegian owners, and that all the other requirements are followed.

Dogs can not be sent by cargo according to 998/2003.

The adopter pays directly to ROLDA the cost for (IATA approved) transport cage (which varies depending on size from 800 to 1200 NOK) plus the vet fees (100 NOK)
The transport cage remains in the adopter’s possession.

The adopter pays directly to ROLDA Romania the cost for (IATA approved) transport cage (which varies depending on size from 800 to 1200 NOK) plus the passport, the veterinary fees and travel documents. The transport cage remains in the adopter’s possession.

After ROLDA- Gatehunder fra Romania will become a registered charity in Norway, the funds collected from adopters to send volunteer/s to Romania to pick up the adopted dogs will be wired to and transfered from the Gatehunder' charity account; the annual financial statement will be accessible to the public.
