Why is safe to adopt a ROLDA dog?
People are very strict when adopting a street dog with an unknown medical history, because of the increased risks of contagious diseases which can affect both other pets and people.
ROLDA does remarkable efforts to provide quality adoption services and test the dogs for the most common contagious diseases.
Tests and trial blood sample
Fast (snap) tests and blood tests are used efficiently to diagnose, control (and limit the damages caused by) the diseases transmitted by parasites.
Tests to diagnose possible skin problems are also available on request.
A fecal sample test is mandatory as a parasitological complete investigation. Because only one sample of stool can show a fake result, we are sending to the DSV laboratory three samples for each dog in order to obtain the most accurate result.
A trial blood analyze is required to determine the leukocytes level; if abnormal this indicates a possible infection. Further analyses must be done to determine the cause and prescribe the correct treatment.

These vacuums are used for serum blood collection.
Regular (monthly) deparasitation: A MUST!
By deworming and providing external parasites control, we increase the safety measures for you to be happy each time you are adopting from ROLDA.
In these short video1 and video 2 - Marian, a full-time ROLDA employee, applies Advantix to dogs from his kennels. Advantix administrated regularly prevents dogs to be infested with ticks and other external parasites, which are very dangerous and transmit serious illnesses to other dogs or to humans.
In this video Ghita helps Marian to treat more dogs.
After being reserved for adoption, dogs are being transported on a regular base to the veterinary office for these kind of treatments. While in the shelter, these treatments are done under the veterinary/technician supervision to avoid stressing the dogs to be catch and transported all the way to the city for treatment and back to the shelter.
