Every day on Romanian streets is a succession of tragedies for homeless dogs (and local people who make big efforts to look after the dogs), as well as for stray cats,  abused horses,  and abandoned donkeys barely surviving at the edge of the road,  all skin and bones.

Dogs are abandoned because they become inconvenient; because they are getting older, and therefore may be perceived as less able to guard human property; because they have had puppies who may also be abandoned;  because they have become sick and the veterinary bill is too expensive… The list can go on and on, but regardless of the pretext for abandonment,  the dog dumped in the road has no idea what he did wrong,  and usually suffers a major psychological transformation.

Every year, an average of 1,000 street dogs are being saved by ROLDA staff and transported safely to our rescue centers where dry dog food, fresh water, clean beds, veterinary assistance and 24h paid professional security is assured.

Every month, every single day ROLDA looks after 450 to 500 dogs.

Over 6000 street animals and pet were sterilized and over 200 dogs were adopted safely in good homes in Holland, Norway, Germany, UK or USA. Updates and follow-up stories are a must every time someone adopts from ROLDA.

Behind these numbers, which represent a fraction of ROLDA’ s undertaking, remains a huge amount of  work, dedicated to offer a quality of life to all abused, skinny and sometimes difficult to be rehomed strays. Please read here more details  about our strugglings and accomplishments.

From catching semi-wild dogs, sterilizing, sheltering, rehabilitate and transform them into adoptable lovely pets, ROLDA work has up and downs but the true reward is seeing every day healthy dogs in our shelters, formerly scared and abused dogs happy, playing, letters from adoptive parents all over the World thanking us to send them the best companions they ever dreamed for.
