My Dog project
CAINELE MEU/ MY DOG PROJECT
The project “My Dog” born because I want (as an animal lover living into Romanian realities and as a representative of ROLDA charity) to publically sustain all the persons that adopt a street dog.
When I write” adopt” I mean to take a homeless dog from streets, forever into your home, to protect him against all abuses that very likely are going to happen to him, to offer him comfort, a decent life but above all, to take responsibility for his life and wellbeing.

I frequently hear situations like “Azorel is my dog” but left in the neighbors from where the person lives, not marked, de-wormed, not sterilized(often). I believe that the society in which I live must be guided to understand that “to adopt” a dog means more than occasionally petting a street dog, more than throwing him rests of meals, sometimes from far distance as “Azorel might be sick”….
This behavior as “animal lover from distance” is not same often criticized by all , like we protest against abuses and animals cruelty, which shock us all, of course – but it’s a dangerous behavior and noxious even for the animals we pretend to love because of the following reasons:
- Street dogs defend their territory where they are fed by “compassionate neighbors” and when saying “defend” I mean sometimes excessively barking (which disturb some people and conduct to aggressive behavior of less tolerant people, most of these aggressions are turned against dogs themselves) or aggressiveness . When the number of dogs grows, forming a pack – and especially when the source of food disappear(even temporarily, let’s suppose the neighbor’ feeding the pack of dogs is gone in vacation for two weeks) their aggressivity increase and the statistics showing the growing number of bitten people are not only a “fake screen” when authorities start a massive catching and killing operation, but a reality very unfortunate for bitten people. Also a tragic reality for the street dogs that once being catched by dogcatchers are “disappearing”, are killed or left die starving in filthy kennels.
- The debates between people “loving” and “not tolerating” these animals on the streets are always heated and have no result but increasing the adversity of each part against the other.
- When a dog remains on the streets, the risks of getting sick are higher and it’s very likely that a contact with other animals with or without owners or a contact with people to spread fast very serious/deadly diseases, which could be prevented by simple and not costly methods.
Maybe because of this reason we see often in
A measure like this proves civic responsibility and creates a cleaner and healthier society for our children.
Regular visits to the veterinary are recommended when you just adopted a dog/cat from the streets.
